Rotary Epilators
Rotary epilators are one of the other devices used for fast and easy temporary hair removal. Rotary epilators are quite similar to electric razors, differing only in the formation and instrument used for removing hair. While an electric razor has a sharpened blade on the rotary head, rotary epilators have rows of tweezers (at least two) grasping the hairs quickly and pulling them off from their roots. That is why rotary epilators are often referred to as rotary tweezers. The use of rotary epilators can be good for removing the hairs of arms and legs. The effects of using rotary epilators may last from a number of days to a few weeks depending on the thickness of the hair growth.
Though supposed to be good for legs, rotary epilators can be difficult to use on the back side of the legs. It has also been observed that the use of rotary epilators may not be much effective on finer hairs, making it difficult to use and causing soreness, especially on the sensitive parts of the body. In order to get the best results for using rotary epilators, it is essential to ensure that the hairs are long enough to allow the tweezers grasp them properly before pulling off. Also, while using an epilator, it is advisable to pull the skin tightly to facilitate proper grasp of the epilator as well as prevent the tweezers from pinching the skin while grasping the hairs and pulling them off. Using rotary epilators in the wrong way may lead to ingrown hairs and skin irritation just like plucking. Those having an extra sensitive skin are also advised to first ensure whether their skin is acceptable to the use of epilators. They may try first on a small area of and see how the skin reacts to it before going ahead.
Although the process of using rotary epilators may sound to be extremely painful, with the sharp tweezers grasping and pulling off the hairs, actually it is not that painful. The tweezers grasp and pull the hairs so fast that you will hardly feel much pain. However, you may feel some pain that is typical to a usual tweezing session but not more than that. Moreover, with rotary epilators all the tweezing is done in half the time as compared to a regular tweezing session. The difference between tweezing and using rotary epilators lies in the fact that these devices do not destroy the hair follicles as tweezing does. They only pull out the unwanted hair for a certain period of time.
To avoid irritation after an epilator session it is advisable to wash the area and apply a moisturizer. It is not recommended to use rotary epilators on large areas such as back and chest. The cost of an epilator session may vary from $40 to $120 depending on the targeted area and the thickness of the hairs.
