Friction
Nobody wants to dampen the beauty and appeal of his/her beautiful body with unwanted hair showing out. Over the years several hair removal methods and techniques have contributed to the solution of hair growth problems and helped people enjoy a hair free life. While some of these methods provide temporary solutions and require maintenance in regular intervals, some offer time consuming and expensive but permanent solutions. However, the final decision depends on the individual of choosing the right method suiting his/her skin type, thickness of the hair and personal preference. Friction is among many of these hair removal solutions obtained by many in order to clean up unwanted hair for a short period of time.
The process of friction involves rubbing off a rough surface such as pumice stone, Emory cloth or a mitt on the surface of the skin to get rid of the extraneous hair. Though not very popular, some people find friction to be quite effective, especially for removing fine hairs of legs. Rough strips with a mitt are commonly used to rub on the smooth surface of the skin. Apart from shaving and depilatories, friction is another inexpensive, painless and quick way for hair removal solutions, which can be easily done at home by all. Apart from removing the hair strands, the rubbing of the rough surface helps in exfoliating and smoothening the skin. Friction is supposed to be most effective on fine hairs while it is also used by others between waxing or shaving sessions.
Skin irritation caused due to hard rubbing of the rough object on the skin surface is one of the most common side effects of friction. Also noticeable is the dark shadow that becomes visible as a pigmented area after a few hours or a few days. Thus, the process of friction may not be ideal for sensitive areas such as face, arms or the bikini area. The common tendencies of overdoing it often leads to skin damage wherein the skin oozes with lymph and blood clotting (honey colored and not red).
Friction pads are often made of fine Emory cloth and if one tries to remove course hairs of the bikini area or rubbed on the soft skin of face or arms, it might damage the skin seriously. After all, it is originally one of the other forms of sand paper. Approximate costs of one mitt may vary between $2 and $6. Some types of friction pads can be used in both dry and wet forms. Though not used very often, friction pads are widely available all over in most cosmetic shops. This short term hair removal procedure mostly requires to be done in a regular interval of every two to three days in order to remain hair free. Friction is not recommended on extra sensitive, irritated or damaged skin.
