Vaniqa
Vaniqa refers to a prescription cream which is used as a topical medication to slow down the growth of the hairs. The Vaniqa cream contains eflornithine hydrochloride, an active ingredient that slows down hair growth. Vaniqa can be applied on the facial skin for reducing unwanted hairs and is used by women of 12 years and over. It is important to note that unlike depilatories, which remove hairs from the surface of the skin, Vaniqa helps in retarding the growth process of the hair and improve the appearance and the condition of the skin. Even though it can be useful for a lot of people in improving the appeal of their skin through a reduced hair growth, it is not known why Vaniqa is not covered by some Insurance Policies. The other mystery of Vaniqa lies in the fact that for some unknown reasons it does not work for everyone.
As the regular use of Vaniqa results in a gradual reduction of the hair growth, you may need to use it simultaneously with any of the other major hair removal methods such as tweezing, waxing or shaving. However, eventually you will notice that you would need to remove hairs less frequently than before as the cream starts showing its effects. You may also find that the appearance of very few hairs is not actually affecting the look and appeal of the area and thus not requiring the regular hair removal sessions any more. Once you have started to use Vaniqa, a minimum time period of two months is required to determine whether it is resulting in the desired effects of slowing down the hair growth. In case you stop using Vaniqa, you may find your hairs growing back to their original levels within a couple of months from stopping the application of it.
One of the best advantages of applying Vaniqa is associated to its low side effects. Vaniqa merely has any side effects with only a few women experiencing occasional feeling of burning or stinging or find a few rashes on the areas of its application. Studies say that even those who have experienced the side effects of Vaniqa have felt them to be too mild and negligible to stop using Vaniqa. However, if you experience any of the mentioned side effects after using Vaniqa, it is advisable to stop using it and consult your doctor before taking it up once again.
Vaniqa is not recommended for men and pregnant women. Since the cream has not been tested on men and pregnant women it is not known whether it causes any negative effects or birth defects and miscarriages in case of pregnant women. Also, it should not be used by women under the age of 12 and should not be applied on any other areas except on the face and chin. Do not apply Vaniqa on nose, eyes, mouth or vagina as it has not been tested on these areas. Women with broken skin or those suffering from severe acne problems are not recommended to use Vaniqa.
